Carrie Mason, M.A.

Carrie Mason is a Director and Senior Litigation Consultant at Blueprint Trial Consulting. She is an expert in developing and implementing winning trial strategies based on providing litigation consulting services and conducting jury research exercises for more than 25 years. Her clients appreciate the creative problem-solving and deep understanding of juror decision-making she brings to every case.

Ms. Mason is experienced in every aspect of trial consulting, specializing in theme development, juror profiling surveys, jury research design and implementation, jury selection and the use of long- and short-form questionnaires, preparation of fact and expert witnesses, and trial observation-based strategy. Ms. Mason also works on arbitrations and mediations, selecting “mock” adjudicators and conducting mock arbitrations and mediations.  She has worked on more than 500 cases venued throughout the United States.

Ms. Mason leads workshops on voir dire technique and jury selection strategy, and teaches CLE seminars on jury selection, witness preparation, pretrial jury research and general trial tips and strategy. She has spoken on panels for the American Business Trial Lawyers, Practicing Law Institute and West Legal Education Center. She received her BA in English Literature from the University of California at Davis and studied Literature and the Teaching of Composition at the graduate level at San Francisco State University.

Experience

Antitrust
Conducted jury research, witness preparation and jury selection in various matters, including pay for delay, illegal tying and price fixing cases, and civil RICO allegations. One highlight was attending a three-month long trial and utilizing a shadow jury for the trial duration, resulting in a favorable jury verdict for her client.


Contract Disputes
Conducted jury research, witness preparation and jury selection in various contract disputes, often between high-tech business partners.


Criminal
Conducted jury research and jury selection services in a variety of criminal matters, including such high-profile trials as US v. Martha Stewart, People of California v. Scott Peterson, and Commonwealth v. William Cosby, Jr. (2017 trial), as well as various white collar criminal cases.


Employment
Conducted jury research, witness preparation and jury selection on whistleblower, retaliation, discrimination and wrongful termination cases.


Environmental and Toxic Tort
Conducted jury research, surveys and jury selection on cases involving groundwater contamination, chemical exposure, and contaminated dust exposure.

Analyzed potential arbitrators and recommended arbitrator selection strategy as well as prepared witnesses.

Worked on a diverse range of cases including high stakes semiconductor, pharmaceutical, wireless technology, and copyright intellectual property disputes, including FRAND cases. Ms. Mason has worked on both the plaintiff and defense side, helping plaintiff teams win some of the largest jury verdicts in infringement cases as well as aiding defense teams to invalidate patents.
